Mark Cranney, Chief Operating Officer, SignalFx, shares his perspective on the cloud-native journey from his front-row seat with executives from industry and government, and where and how SignalFx uniquely fits in.
Prior to joining Signalfx, Cranney was an operating partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), a Silicon Valley venture capital firm with $6B+ assets under management where he conceived and built their market development team. His team helped accelerate time-to-market and created thousands of business-building opportunities for hundreds of a16z portfolio companies.
Cranney and his team built a network of CxO’s and executives in the Fortune 500/Global 2000, and government agencies worldwide to provide them highly curated access to Silicon Valley innovation through the ‘a16z executive briefing’ program and executed field marketing roadshows, and other technology innovation summits across 16 industry verticals. These programs drove over 100k+ opportunities worth billions in pipeline and revenue for the a16z portfolio.
Cranney and team also advised and held bootcamps for the a16z portfolio on go-to-market best practices: marketing, sales, channel, business development, customer success, finance, forecasting, hiring and other company-building strategies.
Cranney previously teamed with a16z founders when he built and led worldwide field operations at Opsware, building a team from a handful to 350 people and growing revenue from $15M to $150M in just shy of four years prior to the $1.65B acquisition by Hewlett Packard. His leadership at Opsware helped build the new Data Center Automation category for the company, which is chronicled in Ben Horowitz’s book, “The Hard Thing About Hard Things.”
