In April, SignalFx went down under! We traveled to Australia for AWS Sydney, and hung out with the Operational Intelligence Meetup group. Back home in the Bay, we’re excited to join the Confluent Partner Program. And Kafka Summit was a good time sharing how we monitor and run Kafka at scale.

Best Practice

Using Graphite-style Wildcards
Many Graphite users have become accustomed to its wildcard conventions, and use them actively to generate the custom charts that they want. SignalFx supports the use of those conventions in the signal (metric or event) field of the SignalFx chart builder UI, including asterisks, character lists and ranges, or value lists. To use the Graphite wildcard, simply enter the appropriate Graphite syntax into the signal field, then select the Graphite wildcard option.

New Features and Integrations

  • Training Modules: We are excited to launch our training portal for SignalFx customers! Learn how to get started on monitoring your modern infrastructure today with SignalFx Fundamentals.
  • Integrations Directory: This new directory provides a brief overview of all integrations SignalFx has released. You can sort the list by services monitored, notification services used, authentication systems, or automation tooling.
  • Contributing Integrations: For those looking to go deeper, we’ve aggregated all integrations, updated documentation, in some cases enhanced functionality, and validated them (for customers). We welcome contributions, you find our guidelines here.
  • SignalFx is now integrated with New Relic and Couchbase. It’s now easier than ever to correlate your app and infrastructure metrics and monitor your NoSQL database metrics with a valid collectd plugin.
